Video: Officials cost Boise State game on incorrect timing

The Boise State Broncos are trying to push their way into the NCAA Tournament this year and they will likely need to win the Mountain West tournament to do just that. However, if they can finish the season strong, they may be able to sneak in as an at-large bid.

That may be a little difficult after they fell to Colorado State Wednesday night in controversial fashion. They teams were tied with less than a second on the clock when James Webb III hit one of the craziest buzzer-beaters of the season.

With such a crazy shot near the end of the game, the officials had to review the play. They ended up determining that the clock wasn’t started as soon as Webb caught the ball, which caused them to waive off the basket.

While the replay determined that they weren’t wrong in that aspect, the officials were still wrong in waving off the bucket. You can clearly see in this awesome slow-motion replay that Webb did get the shot off in time.

This blown call would have given the Broncos as 77-74 win in regulation. However, the game went to two overtimes, which gave the Rams enough momentum to pull of the 97-93 win.

There have been some pretty bad calls this year, but this is one of the biggest blunders by any officiating crew. Expect to see the conference lay down some sort of punishment for the crew very soon.
