West Virginia dismisses former four-star RB Donte Thomas-Williams

Former four-star running back Donte Thomas-Williams did not spend much time in Morgantown with the West Virginia Mountaineers. He has been suspended since early April and on Monday, he was dismissed from the team.

Head coach Dana Holgorsen gave no other reason for his dismissal other than a “violation of unspecified team rules.” Thomas-Williams was suspended indefinitely in April for “conduct detrimental to the team” and did not participate in spring practices.

Donte Thomas-Williams took a redshirt after joining the team as a four-star member of the team’s 2014 recruiting class. He played in just four games in 2015 and rushed for 43 yards on 12 carries.

If he is looking to continue his career elsewhere, he can transfer and have three years of eligibility left. However, he would lose a year of eligibility by sitting out the 2016 season if he stays at the FBS level.
