Westboro Baptist Church boycotting NCAA Tournament

If you thought you had heard the last of the Westboro Baptist Church, think again. Now it looks like the Topeka, Kansas-based “church” is trying to take away the best thing about March if you are a sports fan: the NCAA Tournament.

Seton Hall guard Derrick Gordon transferred in from UMass this season and has been a big reason for the Pirates’ success this season. He will be making history this year as he is the first openly gay player to take part in the NCAA Tournament.

This has caused the Westboro Baptist Church to take a stab at Gordon. They took to Twitter and said they would be protesting the Pirates’ game on Thursday in Denver.

The group of so-called Christians even took to Twitter earlier on Wednesday to call local team, the Kansas Jayhawks, and their coach, Bill Self, to join their protest.

Fat chance at that happening.

Gordon has yet to respond to this situation and likely won’t. He is too busy getting ready to try and bring a national championship home to South Orange.

The Pirates take on Gonzaga in the first round of the tournament on Thursday at 10 p.m. EST on TruTV. I guess we will wait to see how many protesters show up tomorrow.
