It was only a matter of time before we were to start getting preseason Top 25 lists and we finally have our first one. The Preseason Coaches Poll has been released and the top team will not shock you at all.
College Spun shared the poll and rightfully so, the Ohio State Buckeyes are sitting atop the poll. The team returns both JT Barrett and Cardale Jones, who led the team through the Big Ten championship game and the College Football Playoff. Braxton Miller also returns, but this time as an H-back, as well as Ezekiel Elliott, the early favorite for the Heisman Trophy.
The SEC once again dominated the list with eight teams on the list, including Arkansas and Tennessee who both went 7-6 last season. The conference also boasts three teams in the Top Ten with Alabama at 3, Auburn at 7, and Georgia at 9.
Here’s the entire list, via the USA Today:
1. Ohio State
2. TCU
3. Alabama
4. Baylor
5. Oregon
6. Michigan State
7. Auburn
8. Florida State
9. Georgia
10. USC
11. Notre Dame
12. Clemson
13. LSU
14. UCLA
15. Ole Miss
16. Arizona State
17. Georgia Tech
18. Wisconsin
19. Oklahoma
20. Arkansas
21. Stanford
22. Arizona
23. Missouri
24. Boise State
25. Tennessee
The first three teams out on the list are Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma State. This means that at some point in the future, the SEC could feature ten teams in the top 25.
The PAC-12 were not too far behind the SEC as they landed six teams in the top 25 as well. The other three Power Five conferences each got three teams on the list and Notre Dame (Independent) and Boise State (Mountain West) made up the last two spots on the list.
The football season is just a month away and I know I couldn’t be more ready for the season to get started.
