Michigan vs. Maryland could be postponed or moved

The Michigan Wolverines are set to take on Maryland at Byrd Stadium on Saturday night, but that game could end up being postponed, delayed or even moved. Michigan student Ben Fidelman posted the possibility on Twitter.

Team source: "people at Schembechler are freaking out right now." Says decision on potential postponement/new site should come Thursday.

It’s hard to argue with moving the game, if not postponing it outright. Hurricane Joaquin could hit make landfall on the East Coast this weekend, right in Maryland’s area. Thus, for safety purposes, it’s only natural and logical that the game would be moved or canceled, if not delayed. Detroit News’ Angelique Chengelis offered further information on Twitter.

Hurricane Angelique checking in..as for UM-MD, lots of options on table of course. Moving kickoff, changing venues..lots of evaluating to do

changing kickoff time isn't easy to do, not when TV so tied into it. And MD has a huge say. And what if move to UM — another home game? Hmm

And @jcdehart makes a great point about weather models…so uncertain — Thursday will provide clarity and…time to make changes IMO

BTN/Big Ten haven't been talking about this since Tuesday — look how quickly decision came this am to cut the studio show from MD

Big Ten reiterates statement I got last night — still monitoring. "safety of game participants and fans is paramount." Says no timetable

For what it’s worth, Big Ten Network has already canceled its pregame show for the game, and the conference itself is “monitoring” the situation. Of course, Campus Sports will update this story accordingly when any new information becomes available.

As of now, kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network.
