New book alleges Louisville connected to escort service

-

Dark clouds over Louisville as ruinous allegations surrounding the basketball program begin to surface.

Yahoo Sports gained access Friday to a new book that alleges that staff members in the Louisville hoops program paid for escorts for players and recruits.

If the allegations are true, the program is in severe violation of school rules and NCAA mandates.

The book entitled “Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen” is co-penned by madame Katina Powell, who claims that she ran girls through Louisville’s main basketball dormatory over a four-year span. Written with journalist Dick Cady, the publication pinpoints staff member Andre McGee as the person responsible for the transactions of escorts for money.

The book claims that: “At the peak of the dormitory and off-campus entertainment more than $10,000 cash changed hands to Katina for supplying the women.”

This isn’t the first time that Louisville athletics has dealt with a sex scandal. Former coach Rick Pitino was the focal point of a sex-extortion scandal back in 2008. (According to Yahoo, the new book does not name Pitino as someone with knowledge of McGee running escorts.)

Neither Powell or Louisville spokespeople were able to be reached for comment on Friday afternoon, Yahoo said.
