Tennessee 0-2 in SEC for eighth straight season

The Tennessee Volunteers haven’t competed in the SEC East since they won the division in 2007. That was the penultimate season under Phillip Fulmer.

The 2008 season is one that started a bad stretch that you never want to find yourself on. That stretch is an 0-2 start in SEC play and it continued with the Volunteers’ 24-20 loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Wes Rucker of 247Sports tweeted out the stat Saturday night and it’s sure to upset the Volunteer fan base.

#Vols are 0-2 in SEC play for the eighth consecutive season. Fans, God bless 'em, keep showing up in force, anyway.

The fans have already began calling for head coach Butch Jones’s job as they have lost three of their last four games. This is now the eighth straight season the Vols have started off 0-2 in the SEC and the third straight time under Jones.

This season is shaping up to be very similar to last year’s for the Volunteers. This team must turn things around quickly or they will get embarrassed this weekend.
