UMKC puts Andre McGee on leave due to Louisville scandal

Not much of a shocker out of UMKC camp, as assistant coach Andre McGee has been put on non-paid leave, NBCSports reported on Friday.

The suspension comes on the heals on allegations that McGee was involved in paying for escorts to entertain players and recruits during his time as an assistant coach at Louisville. The allegations surfaced in a soon-to-be-released book co-written by the madame who McGee reportedly paid over a four-year span to bring escorts into one of the college’s main basketball dorms.

UMKC’s statement on the matter is as follows:

“The University of Missouri-Kansas City is aware of today’s reports alleging wrongdoing by a current UMKC employee while he worked at another institution. UMKC is taking the allegations seriously and we have already initiated our own review of the matter. While we are conducting that review, Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Andre McGee will be on administrative leave with pay, effective immediately.”
