Video: Excited TV reporter drops mic in sousaphone

The “mic drop” has just been reinvented.

You have to hand it to FOX 10 Phoenix reporter Cory McCloskey for turning up the excitement for this spot on a Desert Vista High School football game. Seriously, this spot looks like a College GameDay promo with the hype squad and band on the scene. Plus he does an excellent job of showing the school band some love.

Then, the local reporter got a bit too close and cozy to a sousaphone and, well, his microphone became a near-casualty.

I’ve seen a recorder or two get dropped during a post-game scrum. But this is a one-of-a-kind blooper.

Best part: McCloskey on his back trying to resurrect the swallowed mic. Pure local television gold. I want this guy to go national just so this video can reemerge every year or so.
