The Northern Illinois Huskies have been the class of the Mid-American Conference for last six seasons. Since 2005, the team has played in six conference championship games, while having played in the last five.
It’s safe to say that the Huskies have been very good for the last few seasons. Since the November 27, 2009, the team has posted a record of 38-4 in the regular season against the MAC.
The only team the Huskies have lost to? The Central Michigan Chippewas. On that day in late November, the Chippewas won 45-31. The Huskies lost their 2011 meeting, 48-41 and, with Saturday’s 29-19 loss, the Chippewas have won the last two games against their MAC rival.
That is a pretty crazy stat to have. It’s not crazy for the Huskies because they have lost four games against one team in seven seasons, but because they have ONLY lost four games in their conference.
The Huskies have lost three straight games this season, but their last three games have been against tough opponents in Ohio State, Boston College, and the Chippewas.
This team still has a chance to turn their season around and continue to be the dominate team they have been in the last six years.
