There’s no doubt that New York Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez, much like WWE superstar John Cena, is a polarizing figure. People either love him or hate him, and unapologetically.
One fan in particular, Helen Fowler of Cranford, New Jersey, was not a fan. She passed away recently at age 85, and made sure that a shot was taken at the three-time MVP and 14-time All-Star in her obituary. Printed in the Newark Star-Ledger, part of Fowler’s obituary said she was “a lifelong Yankees fan, with the exception of Alex Rodriguez.”
Wow. Rodriguez just can’t seem to catch a break, can he? After missing all of last season on suspension for his role in the Biogenesis scandal, he had a nice bounce-back season in 2015, batting .250 with 33 home runs and 86 RBI as the Yankees went on to clinch a spot in the American League Wild Card game.
Though fans cheered for him for most of the season, here’s hoping that the spirit of Helen Fowler and her likely old-school views on PEDs not haunt him tonight against the Houston Astros!
