Shoulder injury delays CM Punk’s UFC debut

The highly-anticipated mixed martial arts debut of Phil “CM Punk” Brooks has been delayed.

According to reports, Brooks suffered a shoulder injury during training that has forced his debut to be pushed back. Brooks’ trainer, Duke Roufus of Roufusport, shared the news in an interview with ESPN.

“He got caught in a scramble, so right now he’s taking a little time off. He was doing great before that. His progress has been good. He’s got a great attitude and he’s a hard worker,” Roufus said.

“Our biggest thing is we want him to 101 percent before [we resuming training]. We don’t have a hard date for his fight to force the issue, so making sure he’s completely healthy is possible.”

It was originally believed that Brooks could make his UFC debut as soon as December. However, the injury has obviously delayed that targeted date.

So when will we see Brooks in the Octagon?

With his current recovery, there is a strong chance he could get the call to make his UFC debut on next July’s monumental UFC 200 fight card in Las Vegas.
