Wisconsin fan reportedly punched 15-year-old Iowa fan

There is a surprising and saddening piece of news coming out involving this weekend’s meeting between the Wisconsin Badgers and Iowa Hawkeyes. According to WKOW, one Wisconsin fan punched a 15-year-old Iowa fan during the game.

The report calls the incident an “attack” and UW-Madison Police are currently looking for help to identify a suspect.

“They say around 2:30 p.m., the boy, wearing Iowa Hawkeyes gear, was exiting the stadium with friends when an unidentified man punched him in the face,” the report read.

“The teen victim says he was mildly teasing his friend, who is a Badgers fan, about the Iowa win.  That’s when the suspect approached him, striking him in the face.  The attack was unprovoked and the suspect then fled into the crowd.”

That is shocking.

Sure, emotions can boil over during a game, but fan-on-fan violence is never okay.

Making this incident even worse is the fact that the victim is a minor. Let’s hope the man who struck the young boy is identified and held responsible for his actions.
