Cris Carter gets emotional while discussing battle with alcoholism

On Sunday, New York Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia pulled out of the playoffs and checked himself into rehab to help deal with his problems with drinking. There a lot of people that know what kind of demons Sabathia is dealing with right now, but there is probably nobody that knows them better than NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter.

Carter struggled with alcoholism during the 1980’s and it was on September 21, 1990 that Carter had his last drink and checked himself into rehab. Carter joined the Mike & Mike Show Tuesday morning to discuss Sabathia’s decision to get help and in doing so, he got very emotional when he opened up about his problems.

If Sabathia is going to take advice from anyone, Carter, who just recently hit 25 years of being sober, is certainly one person he can look up to.

Fans began supporting Carter all over Twitter after his discussion on the show, so I’m sure Sabathia will take that to heart.

Man @criscarter80 is pouring his heart right now on Mike and Mike… this is powerful stuff.

@MikeAndMike – and that's why @criscarter80 is my favorite player of all time. He's genuine, he cares and he is just an everyday person.

Congratulations on continuing to winning your fight against this terrible disease, Cris and I wish all the best of luck to C.C. as he begins his fight against it as well.
