Eastern Kentucky moves home game due to death threat

The Eastern Kentucky Colonels have been forced to move this weekend’s home game with Tennessee Tech on Thursday night to Georgetown College. The reason behind the change is frightening.

A prominent threat across campus was written in graffiti reading, “Kill All By 10/8/15.”

“While we are confident the responding team of law enforcement agencies has kept a watchful eye over our community and is diligently investigating the threat, it has become clear this incident continues to be unsettling to a number of our students, faculty and staff,” EKU president Michael Benson said in a statement.

The school also canceled classes on Wednesday as a result of the threat.

While it may be an inconvenience to switch the location of the game at the last minute, the safety of students, athletes and fans is of the utmost importance.

And with the rising violence on campuses across the nation, you can never be too safe.

It was the right call by Eastern Kentucky officials and it is great to see that they were proactive in the matter to show they truly care about the well-being of those who may be in attendance.
