Class of 2016 four-star center James Banks, out of Indiana’s La Lumiere School, has committed to the Texas Longhorns. Banks reported his decision on Twitter, and it was also reported by Evan Daniels of Scout.com.
Banks still has a year of high school left, but already has great size at 6-foot-11, 230 pounds. On top of Texas, he had received offers from Georgetown, N.C. State, USC, Syracuse and others. He is a strong defender who makes his presence in the paint known thanks to already having great size for his position and his upside is off the charts.
Once he improves his strength and ups his scoring abilities, he’s going to be a fantastic presence in coach Shaka Smart’s havoc game.
Texas opens the season against Washington in Shanghai on November 13.
