Maryland responds to rumors of Randy Edsall’s firing

Surprise, surprise. The Maryland Terrapins had their hand forced into making a statement on Thursday, after rumors continued to run rampant about the possible firing of head coach Randy Edsall following this weekend’s meeting with the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Shortly after the rumors started being passed along by multiple media outlets, a Maryland spokesman came out with a statement.

Statement from Maryland spokesman: "Randy Edsall is our head football coach and he'll be on the sidelines Saturday against Ohio State."

Of course, this statement did nothing to squash the rumors.

Sure, the spokesman said that Edsall will be on the sideline for the Ohio State game, but the report indicated Edsall will be fired AFTER the two teams go head-to-head at Ohio Stadium on Saturday.

Will Edsall still have a job after the game? Only time will tell.

The Buckeyes and Terrapins are scheduled to kickoff at 12 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network.
