The South Carolina Gamecocks are heading into this week’s game against the LSU Tigers with a question mark at the quarterback position. According to a report from Barrett Sallee, Steve Spurrier will start Perry Orth at quarterback this week due to starter Lorenzo Nunez dealing with an injury.
Nunez would have been a much more capable playmaker against Les Miles’ strong Tiger defense, but now the Gamecocks have to figure out how to use Orth to the best of his abilities.
It will be interesting to see how this SEC matchup goes this weekend and whether the Gamecocks can make it an entertaining game or not.
Obviously it is never easy adjusting without a starting quarterback on the field, but the Gamecocks have hope that Orth can step up and shock the nation. LSU should be able to dominate this game with running back Leonard Fournette carrying the football, while South Carolina will likely struggle picking up first downs themselves.
South Carolina simply has to hope that they can stick around in the game and have a chance to make a big play or two in the fourth quarter to pull off an unlikely win.
