Two FSU defensive starters out for Miami game

The Florida State Seminoles have a big ACC game this weekend against their in-state rival Miami Hurricanes, but will be without two key defensive starters in linebacker Terrance Smith and defensive back Nate Andrews. Andrews and Smith’s injuries were reported by 247 Sports and Brendan Sonnone of the Orlando Sentinel.

On call-in show, Jimbo Fisher says that he doesn't count Dalvin Cook out. He said Terrance Smith and Nate Andrews are likely out.

Jimbo Fisher says in call-in show that LB Terrance Smith will definitely be out against Miami. Big loss for FSU.

Smith is a significant loss, as he moves with the finesse of a defensive back and is a ferocious tackler. He only has 15 tackles this season, but has great size at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds. Andrews has eight tackles on the year, but has seven career interceptions along with four forced fumbles since joining the Seminoles.

Needless to say, against a feisty Miami squad looking to improve under Al Golden, Florida State could be facing an uphill battle.

Kickoff in Tallahassee is slated for 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
