Danny Kanell and Bomani Jones debate Chubb on Twitter

Georgia running back Nick Chubb suffered a gruesome injury in yesterday’s game versus Tennessee, serving as a catalyst for an equally as heated Twitter exchange between ESPN pundits Danny Kanell and Bomani Jones.

Shortly after the injury, Kanell twitted out his sympathies to Chubb, catching Jones’ eye, and ire. What started as some well wishing from Kanell turned into an exchange over paying college athletes, which then got a tad personal. Kanell has repeatedly argued against paying collegiate athletes, while Jones is passionately in favor of compensating them.

While the back-and-forth fell short of getting really nasty, it was entertaining nonetheless.

Just heart breaking seeing this happen to Nick Chubb. Prayers to him. Hope it's not as bad as it looked.

.@bomani_jones typical to not even wait until the poor kid's tears dry up to make your agenda's case. I'll prefer to wait for the debate

@dannykanell that wasn’t making my case. it was saying your sympathy comes off as hollow when it’s only generated by catastrophic injury.

@dannykanell what do you mean, “on a saturday?” i’m sitting there watching football. you out flying a kite or something?

Then the mike drop by Jones.
