Class of 2016 four-star safety Eric Burrell, out of Maryland’s McDonogh School, near Baltimore, has committed to Wisconsin. Evan Flood of 247 Sports reported Burrell’s decision.
On top of Wisconsin, Burrell had narrowed his choices down to Duke, Nebraska, Boston College and Syracuse. He also had received offers from Old Dominion, Pitt, Virginia Tech and others.
But instead he will head to Madison, where he took his official visit two weeks ago for Wisconsin’s Big Ten opener against Iowa.
“I was very impressed,” Burrell told Badger247. “I liked the players, the academic support — I’m very excited about this official. I’m very impressed by how they came out and showed me some love.
“The game — the crowd and support is crazy. They have so many fans, they were involved with everything. That’s what you want from fans.
“To be honest with you, I was impressed with everything, man.”
Burrell should next year be an immediate impact player on a Wisconsin team that has gone 4-2 (1-1 Big Ten) in its first season under coach Paul Chryst.
