Auburn player injured by Duke Williams to miss time

Auburn Tigeres backup center Xavier Dampeer, now known as the player injured by recently dismissed receiver Duke Williams in a bar fight, received some more rough news recently. As a result of the injury suffered in the fight, he will miss Thursday’s game against Kentucky and perhaps more.

Dampeer’s status was reported by Jordan James of SEC Country and by Tom Green of the Opelika-Auburn News.

Six days ago, Malzahn said "there's nothing major" in terms of injuries along OL/DL. Today he said Xavier Dampeer is out for extended time.

Following the altercation with Williams, it was reported that Dampeer suffered a jaw injury. He was No. 2 on the depth chart behind starter Austin Golson and had not appeared in the team’s previous four games after playing briefly in the season opener against Louisville.

Campus Sports will update Dampeer’s status for future games as his recovery progresses.

Kickoff between Auburn and Kentucky is slated for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
