The Florida Gators are the No. 8 team in the country heading into Week 7 of the college football season. Unfortunately, they are about to be faced with a very difficult task of replacing their star quarterback.
Will Grier has been suspended for the rest of the season due to a violation of NCAA rules.
Thomas Goldkamp shared on Twitter that a Gators fan had predicted the suspension during Saturday’s game against the Missouri Tigers and said that he would be done for the year due to steroids.
Perhaps the fan had some sort of inside information, but either way it was an excellent prediction. This is a crushing blow to the Gators’ chances to win the SEC, but they do have a solid backup quarterback in Treon Harris.
Grier had put together an impressive season, completing 65.8 percent of his pass attempts for 1,204 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions.
Throughout the limited playing time that Harris has received this season, he has completed 70.4 percent of his passes for 269 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. He can lead them and keep them on course for the college football playoff, but it is going to be much more difficult than it would have been with Grier under center.
