Penn State Nittany Lions defensive end Carl Nassib has been playing like a superstar after originally being a walk-on for the program.

Penn State DE Carl Nassib playing like a superstar

The Penn State Nittany Lions are currently 5-1 on the season, but haven’t been able to break into the top-25 rankings yet. Christian Hackenberg hasn’t lived up to the hype that he had coming into he season, but has been playing better each and every week for the most part.

One player that has been playing like a superstar and potential future NFL star is junior defensive end Carl Nassib.

Nassib, a former walk-on, has been putting up massive production through the first six weeks of the season.

PSU ex-walk-on DE Carl Nassib already has 10 sacks, an INT and 5 forced fumbles. Nat'l leader had 6 FFs last year.

Those numbers show just how dominant the play of Nassib has been.

At 6-foot-6 and 258 pounds, Nassib has an NFL ready body. There are a lot of NFL teams that desperately need pass rushing and Nassib could be the answer for them. It is unclear whether or not he would consider coming out in the 2016 NFL Draft, but these numbers certainly make it a solid option for him.

Nassib is setting the bar for college defensive ends. He has gone from being a walk-on at Penn State to being one of the best defensive playmakers in the country.

This is exactly the kind of story that college football is all about. When players work hard to achieve their dreams and put their head to success, they can accomplish anything they want to.

Nassib wasn’t expected to become anything more than depth when he originally walked on, but he has worked hard and improved his game to the point where he’s an NFL talent. It is great to see.
