Tennessee Volunteers freshman defensive lineman Shy Tuttle suffered a season-ending leg injury in last weekend’s game against Georgia and will be out for the season. Alex Shirkey of SEC Country reported Tuttle’s injury, which occurred on a cut block.
Tuttle, a four-star freshman out of North Carolina’s North Davidson High School, near Greensboro, posted 10 tackles on the season and appeared in every game. Coach Butch Jones commented on the injury.
“Shy Tuttle has a broken fibula and a ligament (tear) and an ankle injury,” Jones said during a press conference on Tuesday. “He will be out for the season. (I) love Shy and the way he has developed….That is a big, big blow to our football team.”
Tennessee has a bye this week and then visits Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama on October 24.
