The Louisville Cardinals basketball program was hit with a scandal recently, when an escort alleged in a book that former Cardinals assistant Andre McGee hired her to have sex with recruits and players. Pitino immediately denied any knowledge of wrongdoing within the program and his staff.
Recently, Pitino was asked about those damning allegations once again and he seemed confident that his program will overcome anything put in their way.
When discussing the allegations, made in Katina Powell’s book “Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen,” Pitino said that his program “will get through this the right way.”
He added, “We will find out the truth, whatever it may be, and those responsible will pay the price.”
For Cardinals fans and Pitino, the hope is that this was nothing more than a publicity stunt to promote a book. If the NCAA investigates and the allegations prove to be true, however, the Louisville basketball program could be hit with some serious sanctions and find themselves in trouble.
