The USC Trojans football team is under new leadership, following the firing of embattled head coach Steve Sarkisian earlier this week.
With Sarkisian out and focusing on issues in his personal life, the Trojans have turned to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Clay Helton as the interim coach.
In order to get the Trojans fan base behind him, Helton wrote a letter to the “Trojan family” showing his desire to bring back the proud tradition of USC football. Helton also thanked USC administrators and the fan base for welcoming him and giving him another chance to prove his coaching chops on the biggest stage.
USC shared the letter on their official Twitter account.
It is a great gesture by Helton that will certainly be appreciated by the loyal fan base.
In his first test of 2015, Helton will lead the Trojans into South Bend against the rival Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday night in primetime. He will be the fourth coach to lead USC against Notre Dame in four years and will be hoping for a positive result to get his tenure off to a hot start.
