Florida recruiting walk-on kickers on Twitter

It seems like the Florida Gators are desperate to get some depth on their special teams right now. In Saturday’s loss to LSU, Jorge Powell, who handles most of the kickoff duties, was injured.

Austin Hardin returned to the field for the first time in three games for the Gators after dealing with an injury he suffered earlier in the year. The Gators are now taking pretty extreme measures to try to bolster their kicking game for the remainder of the year.

According to SI.com, the Gators are looking for new kickers around campus and the best way to do that is through social media. The Gators’ recruiting Twitter page sent out a tweet saying that anyone interested could sign up for a tryout at the football office.

All Call for Kickers! #Gators are looking for walk-on kickers. Visit the football office today by 4:30 PM to sign up for a tryout.

I think there is really only one meme that can accurately sum up the Gators’ situation.

The Gators have a week off before traveling to Jacksonville to take on the Georgia Bulldogs on October 31. It’s going to be interesting to see if there will be a new kicker on the sideline for Florida in two weeks.
