Johnny Manziel on 911 call: ‘I’m sober’

Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was back in the tabloids again last week after it was reported that he and his girlfriend were stopped by a police officer, and he admitted to drinking though he wasn’t arrested. However, thanks to our friends at TMZ, some more light has been shed on the incident.

On footage of the police officer’s dashboard camera, Manziel can be seen getting walked away from his girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, who can be heard getting a bit emotional in the audio of the tape.

Then, on the 911 calls from concerned onlookers, the plot thickens. Manziel can be heard pleading with Miss Crowley, saying “Baby, please!”

But here is the most chilling remark: “I’m trying to take her home! I’m sober. Please!”

That said, though Manziel did admit to drinking, the fact that he was so adamant in trying to get his lady back in the car with him says something. Perhaps if he were drunk, he would have just left her before driving away. But the fact that he showed seemingly genuine concern means one of two things: he was either really sober and just wanted her to get back in the car with him, or he saw someone on the phone with the police and was trying to cover his you-know-what.

Either way, neither Manziel nor Crowley was arrested, and they ultimately left the scene together. Until a new report says otherwise, it looks like this was just a lovers’ quarrel.
