Rutgers Scarlet Knights star wide receiver Leonte Carroo is still dealing with an ankle injury suffered in last weekend’s stunning victory over Indiana and is officially questionable for Saturday’s game against No. 1 Ohio State. Dan Duggan of NJ.com reported the update.
Carroo was injured while making a touchdown catch in the game, in which Rutgers rallied back from a 52-27 deficit to come back and win 55-52, and was seen in a walking boot after it was over. That is never a good sign, as Carroo is vitally important to Rutgers’ success on offense.
Moreover, the game is in Piscataway, and Rutgers has a knack for performing better at home. Still, despite his injury, Carroo has said he will be playing against the Buckeyes.
And how grateful Rutgers would be if he did. Carroo is easily the team’s best player and has 21 catches for 472 yards and nine touchdowns this season despite missing two games due to a suspension. In his Rutgers career, Carroo has 104 receptions for 2,036 yards and 28 touchdowns.
That said, though this injury is scary at first glance, don’t expect Carroo to miss Saturday’s game unless news that says otherwise becomes public. Be sure to stay tuned for Campus Sports for updates!
Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
