Desire to trade Colin Kaepernick in 2016 may benefit him

This season, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick hasn’t had a very good showing. He has thrown for just over 1,400 yards and six touchdowns against five interceptions and a lost fumble.

The 49ers are 2-5 on the year after losing to the Seattle Seahawks 20-3 on Thursday. This has caused fans to call for his possible release or trade and the team has heard them for the most part.

Right now there is desire to trade Kaepernick, but not until after the 2015 season is over. According to Pro Football Talk, that may just keep him on the field rather than the team going with backup Blaine Gabbert, especially if a trade isn’t worked out by the trade deadline in just over a week.

Looking at how things have played out the last season and a half, I don’t see very many teams that would actually want to take a chance on him. Maybe it would be best for Kaepernick to stick around through the end of the season, that way the 49ers could build trade value for him.
