Miami Hurricanes QB Brad Kaaya likely to miss Duke game

Al Golden was fired after last week’s embarrassing loss against the Clemson Tigers and the Miami Hurricanes are hoping to bounce back with a win over the Duke Blue Devils. Unfortunately for the Hurricanes, they will have to attempt doing that without star quarterback Brad Kaaya.

According to a report from College Football Talk, Kaaya is expected to miss the Duke game due to a concussion that he suffered last week.

Obviously that will make things much more difficult for the Hurricanes this week. Kaaya may not be a top 10 quarterback in the nation, but he is still the offensive leader and his arm is more than capable of powering the Miami offense. Not having him will put a lot of stress on the offense that they likely won’t be able to rebound from.

There is a chance that Kaaya won’t even be able to travel to the game with his team as the pressure of flying in a plane could mess with his head too much.

Throughout the 2015 season to this point, Kaaya has put up solid numbers. He has completed 61.1 percent of his pass attempts for 1,846 yards, 10 touchdowns and two interceptions. Those numbers are obviously impressive for a sophomore and the future couldn’t be brighter for him with the Hurricanes.

Duke isn’t a great football team this season, but not having Kaaya will make it a contest. Both of these teams are going to bring a little extra to the field, as they are both desperate to come away with a win.

Miami is going through a major period of change and getting a win would do a lot for their fan base and the program itself. Other players will have to step up with Kaaya out and it will say a lot about the character of the team if they can come through with a big win.
