Arkansas Razorbacks running back Alex Collins was recently criticized by coach Bret Bielema for being late to a meal, as was reported by local radio host Bo Mattingly, but Collins has responded in the appropriate manner.
Collins immediately went on his Instagram and posted the following:
Collins has indeed proven that he can be great this season. As Arkansas’ lead back, he has rushed for 787 yards and seven touchdowns on 150 carries in 2015 and has posted 2,913 yards and 23 scores since arriving in Fayetteville as a four-star recruit out of Florida’s South Plantation High School, near Fort Lauderdale, in 2013.
It should also be noted that Bielema’s criticism was likely born out of frustration both with Collins and the fact that the Razorbacks are incredibly short at running back this season. Rawleigh Williams just went down with a neck injury and Jonathan Williams was lost before the season started due to an injured foot. That means that Collins has had to be on top of his game from the start, and there is little room for slipping up.
Fortunately, he appears to have gotten the message and fans can look forward to him continuing to perform well on the field as Arkansas’ season continues.
Collins should be in line for a big game as the Razorbacks host the OVC’s Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
