Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch has come on strong this season and has looked like one of the best in the country. He has led his team to a 7-0 record as well as a big upset win over Ole Miss two weeks ago.
NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. said that Lynch has been flying up his big board and with good reason too. Now, it seems as though Kiper’s comments may hold some merit as it was reported by rotoworld that five different scouts said Lynch would be the first quarterback drafted in the April next year.
While some don’t believe Lynch deserves the credit he has been getting, his head coach thinks that he will be able to grow and get better. He even compared Lynch to another former quarterback of his.
“When I had Andy Dalton as a junior, he was as big and strong and as good a player as he was going to be. Paxton’s still a kid as a junior. He’s got plenty left,” Memphis head coach Justin Fuente told Thayer Evans and Pete Thamel.
That is a pretty good comparison seeing how well Dalton has done so far this season. Lynch may not be coming out of college this year, but there is a chance he could be a first round pick if he decides to do so.
