Leonard Fournette has been at the top of the Heisman Trophy award watch list throughout the 2015 college football season and that won’t be changing anytime soon. He has been one of the biggest playmakers that college football has seen in quite some time and the LSU Tigers are lucky to have him on their side.
Back during his recruiting process, Fournette was receiving interest from Nick Saban and Alabama as well.
Fournette had to make a choice between LSU and ‘Bama, which obviously ended up being the Tigers. Fournette was recently asked to talk about why he chose LSU over Alabama and was more than happy to reflect on the situation.
Obviously he made the right choice and has fit into what the LSU offense is all about with Les Miles leading the way.
Fournette has had a massive season so far this year and has shown no signs of slowing down. He has picked up 1,352 yards and 15 touchdowns on 176 carries so far this season. Those numbers round out to an impressive 7.7 yards per carry.
There is no doubt that those numbers are going to make him a top draft pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He may not end up going with the No. 1 overall pick, but he has a very good chance to go in the top five.
Teams that pass up on him will look back and regret their decision to pass on him just like teams did when Adrian Peterson came out of college.
It will be intriguing to see what ends up happening in the future for Fournette, but everything started with his decision to commit to LSU rather than attending Alabama.
