There is no surprise about Roy Williams’ team being on top of the rankings in the preseason. They will still have to prove that they can knock off the Blue Devils and Cavaliers, but they definitely have the talent to do so.

Justin Jackson is entering his second year and is expected to be a huge impact player for the Tar Heels. He showed off some of the potential that he has towards the end of the season last year and should break out with big numbers in his sophomore season.

Simply having Williams as the head coach makes North Carolina a team to keep an eye on throughout the remainder of the season.

Marcus Paige is the senior star for the Tar Heels and will be asked to shoulder the largest part of the scoring load throughout the season. He has shown the ability to knock down the three-point shot with consistency and can get to the rim and handle the basketball as well. North Carolina will go quite a ways, but they will rely on Paige when the NCAA tournament rolls around.

All of that being said, this ranking should get fans pumped for the basketball season that will begin for the Tar Heels on November 13th at 7:00 p.m. against Temple.
