The St. Louis Rams drafted running back Todd Gurley with the tenth overall pick in the draft earlier this year, making him the first running back to go in the first round since 2012. Gurley was not able to play for the first few games of the season as he was still dealing with the knee injury he suffered while at Georgia last season.
He has come on strong since being able to play and, according to Pro Football Talk, he was named the NFL offensive rookie of the month for October because of it. He had 68 carries for 433 yards and two touchdowns in just three games this month, including a season-high 159 yards against the Green Bay Packers on October 11.
He is twelfth in the league for rushing and tie with the Miami Dolphins’ Lamar Miller for yards per carry. The Rams are 3-3 and have a good chance to build on that record when they play the struggling San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, where Gurley is expected to have another big game.
