Matthew Dayes, the star running back for the North Carolina State Wolfpack, will miss the remainder of today’s game against the Clemson Tigers due to a lower body injury. It certainly didn’t look good and this report makes things very concerning moving forward for the Wolfpack.
N.C. State has relied on Dayes throughout the season to be a big portion of their offense and they can only hope that this isn’t a long-term injury.
At the time of Dayes’ injury this afternoon, he had compiled 72 yards on just nine carries. The school’s second-leading rusher, Shadrach Thornton was dismissed from the school earlier this year.
Coming into this afternoon’s game, Dayes had carried the football 125 times for 793 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Those are impressive numbers and give a glimpse at just how important he has been for N.C. State throughout the season. Losing him won’t be easy to come back from and if he is out long-term the offense is going to go through a rough period of time over the next couple weeks.
There isn’t more information available at this point in time, but we will have more information for you as more becomes available.
