ACC suspends officiating crew for ‘errors’ during Duke-Miami ending

The ACC has suspended the on-field officiating crew, replay official and communicator from last night’s epic game between Miami and Duke for what was called a “series of errors” on the final play of the game. SportsCenter broke the story on Twitter, and the ACC released a statement.

Now, check out the play in question below!

Needless to say, the officials dropped the ball on this one. A Miami player is clearly down by contact after lateraling the ball to a teammate, and should have been picked up by officials. The ACC is thus doing the right thing and holding people accountable for what went down rather than just sweep it under the rug and saying “Oops.”

Duke coach David Cutcliffe has already called out the officials for what happened and though the result of the game won’t be overturned, he can at least take solace in the fact that the ACC took the necessary steps to ensure that it won’t happen again.
