Mike Riley’s first season in charge of the Nebraska football program has not gone according to plan so far. After Saturday’s loss to Purdue, the Cornhuskers are only one loss away from sealing a spot on the couch for bowl season.
At 3-6, Nebraska has two of their final games against two undefeated, top-10 teams.
Michigan State and Iowa come to Lincoln to try and keep Riley’s team out of the postseason for the first time since 2007.
The third game is against Rutgers on the road.
If the Cornhuskers lose out they will lose nine games in a season for the first time since 1957 and make Riley the first first-year Nebraska coach to miss out on a bowl since Bill Callahan didn’t qualify in his first year at the helm in 2004.
