Brian Kelly compares DeShone Kizer to Everett Golson in 2012

Notre Dame redshirt freshman quarterback DeShone Kizer has done an excellent job filling in for the injured Malik Zaire, leading the Fighting Irish to a 7-1 record and top 10 ranking.

Consequentially he has many drawing comparisons to the last redshirt freshman to start for Notre Dame, Everett Golson in 2012.

Brian Kelly has coached both and while he said Golson is a “great athlete,” he characterized Kizer as being a better leader.

Tough call seeing as Golson got Notre Dame to a National Championship game, but that must highlight Kizer’s leadership qualities.
