Chargers WR Keenan Allen could miss season after kidney procedure

Keenan Allen has broken onto the stage this season for the San Diego Chargers as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. He has been dominant all season long, but could very well miss the remainder of the season.

According to a report from Adam Schefter, Allen could miss the rest of the 2015 season after undergoing a kidney procedure.

Chargers' WR Keenan Allen underwent a kidney procedure – not a surgery – and could be out for season, per league sources. 2015 uncertain.

Schefter was very specific in his tweet that Allen’s procedure was not a “surgery” which is a good thing. It was obviously still something fairly serious if it could cause him to miss the remainder of the 2015 season. Allen is a very tough player, although with the Chargers struggling the way they have this season sitting him for the rest of the year wouldn’t be a terrible idea.

Allen has caught 67 passes for 725 yards and four touchdowns this season, which shows just how dominant of a season he has been having.

San Diego is going to see their offense take a major hit moving forward. Allen was the go-to receiver for star quarterback Philip Rivers and after Allen they simply don’t have another legitimate No. 1 target.

Malcolm Floyd will be asked to step up and take over the top receiver role, but that won’t be easy for him at all.

Expect to see Allen miss a good chunk of time and don’t be surprised if he is out for the entire season moving forward.
