David Blough might not be a household name, but the Purdue Boilermakers’ freshman quarterback might very well be getting there. He has been putting up very good numbers throughout his first season and Purdue football’s official Twitter account tweeted out a number that praised Blough’s big game against Nebraska this past week and should shock some fans.

Yes, that is how bad things have been at the quarterback position for Purdue since Painter left town.
Over the past couple of seasons alone, the Boilermakers have had to see both Danny Etlin and Austin Appleby end up being train wrecks. Those two aren’t the only quarterbacks that have failed in the last couple of years, as Rob Henry was also a failure and ended up switching positions to safety.
Blough showed off some of the potential that he has for the Boilermakers this past week in a huge win over Nebraska. They pulled off a 55-45 win and finally got back in the win column after five straight losses.
He was able to complete 28 of his 43 pass attempts for 274 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Not only did he have a big game through the air, Blough also totaled 82 yards and a touchdown on the ground in the game. Those number are giving the Purdue football program hope for the first time in a long time
There have been quite a few fans and media members that have noticed similarities between Blough and another former Purdue superstar quarterback. He has been compared to Drew Brees in quite a few different areas of his game and a few of those similar characteristics were shown this past week.
Only time will tell whether or not Blough can continue developing and lead the Boilermakers back to relevance, but he gave the fan base reason for excitement this past week against the Cornhuskers.
