Iowa State named AutoNation National Team of the Week

The Iowa State Cyclones dominated the Texas Longhorns in an upset victory this past weekend as they got the 24-0 shutout win. The team is now 3-5 on the year and is looking to pull off some more big wins to close out the season strong and possibly make a bowl game.

According to the Football Writers Association of America, the Cyclones were named the AutoNation National Team of the Week after their big win. The Cyclones only allowed the Longhorns to cross the fifty-yard line twice in the second half and held them to 204 total yards in the game.

Running back Mike Warren had a great day, rushing for 157 yards and a touchdown, becoming the third consecutive Cyclone to rush for 100 yards against Texas. Head coach Paul Rhoads talked about the big win from Saturday.

“We accomplished all the things that we felt we needed to beat Texas. We won the turnover margin, we stopped the run, we threw and ran against their pressure, we were fantastic in special teams, and we started fast,” Rhoads said. “People questioned whether we could do that or not. Our confidence level will be up another notch with this.”
