McElwain hinting new Florida Homecoming helmets

First year head coach Jim McElwain sure hasn’t wasted any time getting the Florida Gator football program back into national and SEC relevance. The former Colorado State head coach has this Gator team riding high after 7-1 start–ranked 11th in the country.

And Tuesday, fresh off a dominating 27-3 win against rival Georgia, McElwain tweeted this picture possibly hinting about a helmet change for the Gators approaching homecoming game against Vanderbilt.

Florida fans are eagerly awaiting the uniform change, most of whom are hoping the Gators bring back the white helmets that Tim Tebow and co. dawned in the 2009 season. Others are demanding a black helmet to go along with a possible blackout, something the Florida program has yet to take part in.

Whatever helmet, or uniform, the Gators run out the tunnel wearing, it almost certainly will motivate the fans and players. If the Gators take care of business against the Commodores Saturday they will clinch their first SEC East title since 2009.
