Ohio State loses Erick Smith for season, Damon Webb returns

-

Sophomore safety Erick Smith is out for the rest of this season after suffering a torn ACL. Smith was a backup in Ohio State’s defensive backfield. Smith was also a contributor to the special teams units.

“Damon is a guy who was playing well for us, a guy we have a lot of trust in and it’s a big plus as well as having him available for special teams,” head coach Urban Meyer said in a statement.

Even so, there was some good news for the Buckeyes.

Meyer announced that Damon Webb would be coming back from his team suspension. No details have been shared as to what caused the sophomore cornerback to be suspended. Webb has not played since Ohio State’s third game.

Ohio State plays Minnesota in Columbus Saturday night.

They will also be without J.T. Barrett who is serving his own one-game suspension.
