SMU to wear American Flag helmets again

|

The SMU football spirit may have taken a hit this season, as the Mustangs fell to Tulsa last weekend making the team 1-7 and in last place in American Athletic Conference. However, the teams Patriotic spirit is one of the highest in the country.

SMU announced Tuesday via Twitter that they will wear red helmets with an American flag symbol in the Mustang logo for Friday’s game against #23 Temple.

The Mustangs strapped on a blue patriotic helmet earlier this year on Sept. 11th and will do the same on the road next week in Philadelphia on “Hats off to Hereos” day, but this time with a red helmet. The Mustang faithful are hoping the great look brings the team luck against first place Temple, who just lost to #9 Notre Dame by only four points last Saturday night.

The SMU – Temple game will be shown on ESPN2 Friday night at 8 p.m. ET.
