The North Carolina Tar Heels were recently picked as the number one team in the country for the preseason college basketball AP polls. The season is just a week away and it has been confirmed that Roy Williams’s club will be without one of their big pieces for the first month of the season.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, the school announced that starting point guard Marcus Paige injured his non-shooting hand and that he would miss three to four weeks to recover from the injury.
UNC’s Marcus Paige fractured the third metacarpal on his right (non-shooting) hand in practice on Tuesday, will miss 3-4 weeks, per school.

During the 2014-15 season, Paige was one of the team’s biggest contributors. He averaged 33 minutes a game, shot 41 percent from the field, and averaged 14.1 points and 4.5 assists per game.
It is likely that Paige will miss the December 1 matchup against No. 3 Maryland and the December 6 matchup against Davidson.
If Paige’s injury affects him throughout the season, this could really hurt the Tar Heels later on down the road. The Tar Heels open the season on November 13 when they host Temple.
