Alex Collins ties SEC record held by Walker and McFadden

Arkansas running back Alex Collins has been one of the best running backs in the country the last few seasons and during Saturday’s game against Ole Miss, he joined an elite set of running backs in the SEC. He rushed for 1,000 yards for the third straight season, becoming just the third person to do that in SEC history.

According to CBS Sports, Collins joined former Razorback running back Darren McFadden and former Georgia running back and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker in the elite group of backs to achieve this record. It was likely that he was going to set this mark as he was only 40 yards from 1,000 entering into Saturday’s game.

Collins now has 3,198 yards and 28 touchdowns for his career. He likely won’t reach 4,000 this year, but he is still only a junior and he can pad his draft stock if he continues to play the way he has.

Congratulations, Alex. You certainly deserve this honor!
