ESPN reports Sonny Dykes returning to Cal next year not likely

ESPN Insider Travis Haney just reported that Cal head coach Sonny Dykes has been looking at other programs for over a year, putting Dykes returning to Cal in 2016 unlikely. Haney goes on to say that Dykes would jump at the opportunity to coach in his home state of Texas.

Cal going a year plus without an AD made for an uncomfortable situation for Dykes, and their hire Mike Williams hasn’t gotten along with Dykes either.

Last year rumors swirled about Dykes taking the job at Houston. Of course nothing progressed past the rumor stage and Dykes remained head coach at Cal.

Cal has been in-and-out of the Top 25 rankings this year, with a record of 5-4. They lost last night at Oregon 44-28.
